Daily Tip: Keep Track of Downloads From Your WordPress Site

Are you offering digital items for download on your WordPress site? Simple Download Monitor is a fairly well-maintained plugin that is compatible with WordPress 3.0 for monitoring downloads without having to maintain a comprehensive download page. If you simply want to upload a file to a designated directory using FTP and provide a direct link to it, then this plugin will keep track of how many times the file has been downloaded. Additional features include the ability to record referers and usernames of people who download the files.
Because this plugin/widget is provided free of charge, I simply ask you to link back to Pressography.com in a post on your blog, or from one of your sites. It doesn't need to be anything fancy - just a note saying that you're using it, and whether or not you like it. However, there is no requirement that you do this, you're free to use the plugin regardless.
