Daily Tip: Build a BuddyPress Username Availability Checker

Brajesh Singh has a really great tutorial about how to add a Username Availability Checker to your BuddyPress site. It’s very handy for learning about using Javascript event handlers with the BuddyPress registration process. He also offers a plugin for the username availability checker at the end of the tutorial. It’s not in the WordPress plugin repository, as far as I know, so I wanted to mention it here in our Daily Tip blog. The purpose of the the username availability checker is all about the user experience and will help your user identify himself as having selected a username that will be used in site activities, including BuddyPress @mentions.
Because this plugin/widget is provided free of charge, I simply ask you to link back to Pressography.com in a post on your blog, or from one of your sites. It doesn't need to be anything fancy - just a note saying that you're using it, and whether or not you like it. However, there is no requirement that you do this, you're free to use the plugin regardless.
