4 Ways to Post to Your WordPress Blog by Email

The ability to post WordPress blogs via email has been around for a long time. However, the surge in mobile technology in the past few years has made posting by email more relevant than ever before, especially for photo and video bloggers. Given how easy it is to compose and send emails from mobile devices, posting to your WordPress blog by email is probably going to be much easier than accessing your dashboard on the go.
You may be surprised how easy it is to send posts by email. We’ve selected a few different options to keep you publishing content on the go:
WordPress Plugin: Postie
Postie offers many advanced features for posting to your blog via email, including the ability to assign categories by name, included pictures and videos, and automatically strip off signatures. When you set Postie to prefer HTML messages, you’ll be able to get inline images for your posts. URLs to Youtube or Vimeo videos within the body of your email will automatically be converted to embedded videos.

WordPress Plugin: Post via Email
This is the newest option for posting by email. Activate the plugin and you’ll get an email address to send your posts to, which will post the contents directly to your blog. The subject of the email is the title of the post and the body of the email will be the contents of the post. Posts will be published immediately after sending the email.

Set it Up the Old-Fashioned Way
The WordPress Codex has a tutorial called “Post to your blog using email”, outlining all the steps it takes to set up email posting. If you got to Dashboard >> Settings >> Writing you’ll find instructions for setting up an email account with POP3 access for WordPress to use in posting. Follow the tutorial and learn how to activate your posts with a method that is convenient for you.

Link a Posterous Account to WordPress
You can use the posterous service to post your WordPress blog by email. Posterous has an Autopost service that will allow you to link your posterous account to your WordPress blog. Check out the more detailed tutorial below for the step-by-step process of adding your WordPress account.

Because this plugin/widget is provided free of charge, I simply ask you to link back to Pressography.com in a post on your blog, or from one of your sites. It doesn't need to be anything fancy - just a note saying that you're using it, and whether or not you like it. However, there is no requirement that you do this, you're free to use the plugin regardless.
